Actions of One or Few affects the Masses

After reviewing some information, though seriously small, concerning Bradley Manning, the young man supposedly leak info to Wikileaks, consideration about the incident follows.  Mr. Manning may have acted with good intentions but his actions has created a frenzy concerning confidentiality and in my opinion had created a precedent concerning each and every one of our civil rights to privacy.  It may be he was on the exposure train trying to undo injustice in his opinion, however, the response of his actions has resulted in equal clamor to cap down on the stream of consciousness by invading emails, websites viewed, etc. as companies like Google has been pressed to forfeit records and stats to essentially spy on each and everyone of us.

Now let us not be naive concerning government actions and sometimes public safety, as closed doors are shut for a purpose.  The deliberation in such meetings are as necessary as individual privacy for minds meet to compete, protect and ensure diligence and hopefully ethical responses to some of most crucial issues society must endure.  It may be our own country and government has been lied to for centuries, if not obviously decades.  If indeed this man exposed documents that weren't for public eyes, than indeed he stole and possibly committed treason in the eyes of higher ups.  His actions were not of immediate danger but have profound ramifications.  His trial is still yet to be determined.  For more opinion on his actions, read here.

In lew of his actions and others, like hackers Anonymous, the lines have been drawn in the sand with the message, "You mess with us, we'll mess with you."  It becomes a silly tit for tat in my opinion.  If we don't have more to worry about?  In some higher plane of existence, such actions are noble but goes beyond that as the general public are watching a pissing contest that has no real relevance it seems.  The government and powers that be have been strategizing a backlash with the attempts to control the internet.  It's happening before our very eyes and clicks on keyboards.  Small examples are everywhere and monitored i.e. link.  Civility has left the building and the sufferers are the commoners, like children of a nasty divorce.

Will Civility be reduced to a salon/spa, like this in Japan?
Is the duty or concern then of average citizens to inform and arm themselves with the ideals we hold as values, morals and principles against the grain of the machine?  Absolutely but the evolution of things will work slow and backwards and might require a disassembling.  However our concerns are for the future and if not our own generations but those who come after as our children will carry on.  In what direction?  It is the individual that determines, left or right or in-between as it is also the current system we have.  No government in the world today has a successful third party but with all the bickering and non productive arguing between just the two domineering parties we are without voice as they negate each other.  Counterproductive in my opinion.   With population growth booming allowing entrance of another voice seems crucial but it won't be in my lifetime and whether everyone else gets on board with the idea, how would it work effectively?  Questions and answers are unknown and that may scare the daylights of those with rigid thinking and applications.  Yet, we dream to have choice in this world and perhaps one day we'll let go enough to see other choices still exist.
